What is Self Care?

Let's start with what self care isn't, Self-care isn't just about pampering yourself with occasional treats, such as facials, massages, spa dates, etc.

Self-care refers to a practice of taking deliberate actions to prioritize and nurture your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It involves recognizing and meeting your own needs, whether it's relaxation, rejuvenation, stress release or personal fulfillment.

Self-care is not selfish or indulgent, it's maintaining balance and vitality in all areas of life.

You should invest time, money and energy into caring for you!

Here are five (5) examples of self-care:

1. Physical self-care: Engaging in regular exercise, getting enough sleep, eating nutritious foods, staying hydrated, and attending to personal hygiene.

2. Emotional self-care: Practicing mindfulness and meditation, expressing emotions in healthy ways, setting boundaries in relationships, seeking support from friends or a therapist, and engaging in activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

3. Mental self-care: Engaging in activities that stimulate the mind, such as reading, learning new skills, solving puzzles, or engaging in creative pursuits. Managing stress through relaxation techniques, time management strategies, and positive self-talk.

4. Spiritual self-care: Connecting with nature, practicing gratitude and forgiveness, engaging in spiritual practices such as prayer or meditation, reflecting on personal values and beliefs, and cultivating a sense of purpose and meaning in life.

5. Financial self-care: Being mindful of your purchases and spending habits. Creating a healthy relationship with your money, meaning if it's not to add to your self care goals then it's not a necessity. Create a daily budget that aligns with your monthly budget and it it doesn't fit, you can't spend your hard earned money on it.

Self-care is an individual thing, what works for one person may not work for you. Don't compete or compare, learn what works for you and your family and focus on that only...
